Cropping keeps only a selected rectangular region of the original image and discards everything outside it — unlike resizing, which scales the whole image, cropping changes what's visible within the frame without stretching or shrinking the kept pixels. This tool lets you drag a selection box over the image and processes the crop entirely in your browser using canvas rendering, so your image is never uploaded to a server.
Starting with a 1200×800 pixel photo, selecting a crop region starting at coordinates (200, 100) and sized 600×600 pixels produces a new, square 600×600 image containing only that portion of the original — everything outside that selected rectangle is permanently discarded from the cropped output (though your original uploaded file itself remains unchanged on your device).
Useful for creating profile pictures, thumbnails, or removing unwanted parts of a photo. For precise, professional photo editing needing content-aware fill or advanced retouching after cropping, a dedicated photo editor offers more control than a simple browser-based crop tool.
The cropper supports touch gestures on mobile devices as well as mouse drag on desktop, so you can select a crop area comfortably on a phone screen or a larger monitor.
